New Proton Persona - Malaysia make sedan cars

Mmm... This morning I went down to Proton road show to see the latest model Persona (Actually I just want to eat free lunch there.. hihihi). A lot of people there (I assume they are same like me), and 2 unit Persona display here. Although not much changes make on the outlooks but I think this model will help Proton to boost their sales for this quarter. The price and the car is just match, personally I'll take this if my budget is within 50k. What disappointing me is that they still don't no the right way to do marketing. They still using a new name again for every new model - this is so obvious a Gen2 Sedan, why still want to create so many name to confuse public. I believe people like me always like to compare and see the improvement, example the 1st Honda Civic and the latest 2007 civic.

Little info of Persona
- Persona actually is a name for Wira in oversea.
- Bookings exceeding 2,200 units have been received for the PROTON Persona, even before it was officially unveiled by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, with 350 cars already registered and delivered to customers nationwide upon launching.

i keep searching an opportunity to look on this new Proton. But when i read your review, i feel a bit disappointed, it just like another Gen 2? i don't know why i hate Gen 2. They should try to produce a 5 star car, more. NCAP rate WAJA as 3 star, only 3 star, man! But 5 star car un affordable by Malaysian. Hmmm haiyaa..susah gaklah.

Absolutely agree with amirahsyuhada. "Safer car" in m'sia always been the least priority when consumers choose to buy a new car.

In most countries "safe car" with high NCAP rating is expected and now they move on to a "cleaner car".

Independence Crash tests has influenced most car makers to make their models platform and structural safer, as well as all these airbags', ESP, VDS, ABS bla... bla.. as a standard not extra options.

It's a shame that "affordibility" is the main issues to own "premium car brands" which is more reliable and safe such as Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan or even Hyundai. ( I intentionally omitted European badges here). We are then left with substandard but overpriced and overhyped Proton.

One thing for sure if this is not such an annoying factor, I cannot see why people should turn to Proton.

To me once you've driven somthing else, you'll never buy proton.

It is a shame that most Malaysians don't realize what they're missing.

My own personal view - Proton's standard is similar to Malaysian's films and its value is the same as our "elected leaders". FULL STOP!!

amiaq safer and cleaner car?? Dreame on..! As per what you said , I had drove Toyota since last year and now if you ask me. I'm sure not going back to Proton. Is such a big gab in term of quality. Now a day ppl who buying Proton just hope that they can get a car that match it price.
RM40k in oversea already more than enough to buy a car like Vios.
